Ramble Rave 21 – Sheffield’s 90s dance scene

Episode 21 of Ramble Rave takes to Sheffield’s streets for another urban hike, but on this occasion we’re taking a trip back in time to visit some of the city’s iconic dance music venues of the 80s and 90s. Over the course of the podcast we’ll hear from some of the people who shaped that burgeoning scene including Winston Hazel (Jive Turkey, Cuba, Kabal) Chris Bibby (NY Sushi), Green (The Palais) Richard Benson (Asterix and Space, The Limit, Fantasy FM) Martin Leverton (Fantasy FM, Dance FM) Neil Anderson (Dirty Stop Outs). Join me as I tread up and down the hilly streets over seven miles starting at ground zero for so many DJs and clubbers with The Limit. The walk visits Sheffield City Hall, CJs, The Unit, Palais, Occasions, Kikis, Nelson Mandela Building, Wicker Arches and the iconic Park Hill Flats which were the home to some of Sheffield’s legendary pirate radio stations.
